| On Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at 3PM in Room 263 at City Hall, the Land Use Committee will be reviewing Supervisors Dufty's and Alioto-Pier's legislation that would enable 2-6 unit 100% owner-occupied TICs formed as of January 20, 2005 to bypass the condo conversion lottery. Note: this is a change from the previous draft of the legislation which required a 3 year residency requirement.
We need your help on the day of the hearing. The proposed legislation needs to pass this first hurdle before being considered before the entire board. Here's what you can do to help:
Rally on the City Hall Steps: Prior to the hearing between 2 and 3PM, TIC Owners will be hosting a rally. The media has been invited. We need as many people to attend on the front steps of city hall and vocalize our cause before the public. Most importantly, we need speakers at the rally. ***Please reply to this email and let us know if you'd like to speak.***.
Attend the Hearing: Show your support at the hearing and share your TIC experiences and why this legislation is important for the city. If you can't speak, your presence is also important -- a full room of TIC owners will send a strong message to the supervisors. Come dressed as you really are: We want the Supervisors to realize we're regular folks. We want to show the public and the policy makers that this legislation advocates for first time home buyers, families and the folks who love this city but just can't afford to buy any other way.
We expect that the hearing and public comment may last into the early evening. To make it easier for you to attend, we will provide hourly updates by voicemail. On the day of the hearing you may call 415 759-5118 any time after 2PM to hear a recorded message with a status update on the meeting.
Visit the Supervisors: Prior to the meeting, visit each of the 3 supervisors that sit on the Land Use Committee and tell their aides that you support the legislation. Committee members include Supervisors McGoldrick, Maxwell, and Sandoval.
Email the supervisors: Go to the following link and email each of the supervisors and tell them that you support this legislation: http://www.sfticcoalition.com/index.php?op=Template&blogId=1&show=takeaction
